Third in the original "Oz" series by L. Frank Baum, lavishly illustrated in both pen-and-ink & containing the original COLOR plates by John R. Neill throughout the book's 270 pages. Orig. published in 1907, this is a somewhat later printing, with the publisher now Reilly & Lee (so 1919 or later, but no later than 1929, when the cover image changed [Hanff & Greene, p. 52-53]). Octavo (6.75" 9.25) has brown cloth-covered boards with black lettering & design to spine, colorful paper frontispiece. Condition is Poor: front board & first few pages are completely detached, spine covering is frayed & worn all around & has been reglued. Rear hinge remains intact. Internal pages are creamy white with moderate tanning to exterior edges, random smudges; unmarked save for gift inscription dated 1928 inside "This book belongs to" box in front matter). Some pages (in the signatures encompassing pp. 147-177) loosening, 1 completely detached, with resultant chipping/wear to fore edge. But the colors! All of the title pages that open each chapter are colored, as is the Table of Contents, frontispiece, & 38 full-page plates throughout text (+ an additional plate in black-and-white)--All present & lovely! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific Time); later orders, Weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.
