Frank Baum & here offers his pen-and-ink drawings throughout the books 318 pages & decorative endpapers. Orig. published in 1940, this is a later printing of that First Edition, with running titles on pages 306-318 on right-hand pages (rectos), chapter numbers on left (verso; Hanff & Greene, p. 108); & black-&-white illustrations now instead of the original full color. In publisher's red cloth over boards & a brilliantly colored front pastedown, black lettering & designs to spine, this book is in VG+ condition: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, but starting to loosen. Name stamps from former owner to endpapers & in the "This Book Belongs To" box; pages otherwise creamy white & unmarked, though moderately foxed to all outside edges of text block. Exterior shows light rubbing & slight bumping, a hint of soil to rear; nicely protected in new clear 2.5 mil mylar cover free! No DJ.
