A story of women's resistance during China's Cultural Revolution, it debuted as a ballet in that country in 1964 & was made one of the Eight Model Operas. Per Wiki, "the piece has been hailed as a model of the successful combination of Western ballet technique with Chinese folk dancing." This 1973 pamphlet represents the First English-language edition of the story, in 39 pages, illustrated with black-and-white drawings throughout. 12mo (4.75" x 7.50"), with colorfully decorated wrappers, sewn binding. Condition is VG: bright & clean & colorful, stitching secure, pages show only a whisper of tanning & are completely unmarked. Back cover is unevenly yellowed with a pen notation to bottom inner corner. One creased corner, very mild rubbing to other corners, tiny horizontal tear intruding from spine into front cover just below midway, Protected in new clear mylar bag free!
