Autobiographical memoir of the First female doctor to earn a BS at Mount Holyoke College & (per Wiki) the first woman to practice medicine at Franklin County Public Hospital (now Baystate Franklin Medical Center) in MA. After retiring from medicine at age 67, she went on to a second successful career in hand-weaving. Written in 1941 toward the end of her life (1862-1947), this book is SIGNED by the AUTHOR in a rather shaky hand on the frontispiece, which bears a glossy photo of Ms. Dole "in a dress of her own weaving." A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from May 1941, this octavo (6.00" x 8.75") has soft blue cloth-covered boards stamped with bright gilt lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG+: aside from rubbing to extremities (heaviest along front edge of spine) & slight corner bumping, it is virtually flawless: completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages white & unmarked. No DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day
