The original one-volume bible of French cooking for the American chef as it was first issued in 1961 (it would later be expanded & issued in 2 volumes). With the famous fleur-de-lis design in red & green on a white cloth-covered boards, in 726 pages with Index in rear & pen-and-ink illustrations throughout by Sidonie Coryn. This is the18th printing (1969) of the 1961 FIRST EDITION. Hefty small quarto ((6.5" x 9.5") is in VG- condition: generally quite clean & bright, but with soiling & spotting to exterior edges of text block, particularly fore edge. Binding straight & strong, hinges secure. Pages creamy white & unmarked save for former owner's stamp to ffep, & they also laminated the entire book, secured inside both covers. Orange topstain & entire spine are quite faded, corners bumped & darkened. NO DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
