One of a series of adventure series aimed at YA girls that featured adventurous young women solving mysteries. Similar to books produced by the Stratemeyer syndicate (the most famous of which featured girl sleuth, Nancy Drew), these Saalfield books were produced from 1900-1977 by a stable of writers. This title was the third & final in the "Phantom" series. A First Edition, First printing, from 1929, in 248 pages, with black-&-white frontispiece by "Peri." With bright red cloth-covered boards stamped with stark black lettering to front & spine, condition is VG: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages heavily tanned & rather brittle, commensurate with age & paper quality. Ffep has old gift inscription in pen & has come loose; other pages are all intact & unmarked. Corners crisp, minimal edgewear. The unclipped DJ (with cover art by Chris Schaara) is also VG, with minimal chipping & rubbing to extremities; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
