Massachusetts Beautiful (States Beautiful series)

Another volume in the States Beautiful series by photographer/minister/antiquarian Wallace Nutting (1861-1941) whose pen-and-ink sketches & sepia-toned photographs (304 in all!) brilliantly bring his text to life & offer a unique portrait of "old houses & haunts" & natural settings from every county in Massachusetts. In 301 pages, this is a FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1923. Small quarto (7" x 10.25") has olive cloth-covered boards stamped with an inset deeper green title box to front, with gilt lettering here & to spine (nearly completely faded to the latter). Condition is VG: very clean, with a few stains of unknown origin to front board. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages modestly but evenly tanned, unmarked save for old gift inscription in neat pen script to ffep.Rubbing to extremities, with mild fraying to corners & both ends of spine.
