Ms. Porter, a native of Indiana, was widely read in her day & an early nature photographer/environmentalist ahead of her time. Orig. published in 1925, this is the First Grosset & Dunlap reprint edition, using the same plates, but designed to make fine books accessible to more readers. Small octavo (5.25" x 7.75") has 339 pages, blue tweed cloth-covered boards with darker green design & lettering to spine. Condition is VG: very clean, only Good: heavy rubbing to extremities, down to boards at corners. Random smudges/small soil spots. binding strong & straight, pages creamy white, with mild tanning around all edges, unmarked save for former owner's name in pencil to ffep.The DJ is Fair, missing the entire upper portion of spine, with many other smaller chips, short tears, & creasing; looks nice protected in new clear mylar cover free!
