Travel back to the New York City of old via these vintage charcoal sketches, presented on 23 tipped-in plates throughout the 144 pages+ 1 to front board inside a gilt-rimmed inset small square window. Accompanying text & Introduction by the author, a writer/artist/engineer who also built the foundation for the Statue of Liberty. Originally issued in a limited edition, this is the FIRST Trade Edition, First Printing, from 1912, a quarto (8.5" x 11.5") with gray cloth over half off-white cloth-covered boards, stamped with black & gray lettering to front/gilt lettering to spine. Condition is Good+, downgraded because front joint shows splitting from top edge nearly 3" down. Light soil & rubbing to exterior, mild foxing t top outside edges of text block. Interior is very clean & completely unmarked, all plates intact & pristine. Binding straight & strong, front hinge starting. The deckled-edge pages are creamy white & unmarked with modest tanning.
