They featured the plucky Linda & her best friend, Louise, who enter a contest in attempt to be the "first girls to fly to Paris without a man,'' a feat for which the real-life aviatrix, Amelia Earheart, was herself preparing. After becoming both a pilot & mechanic, but losing her friend to marriage, Linda successfully makes the daring flight alone. In 282 pages with a plain frontispiece, this 12mo + 3 internal illustrations (unattributed), second DJ cover art by Walter Hayes. In the series second binding style, this small octavo (5.25" x 8.25") has light blue cloth-over-boards lettered in black to front & spine. Orig. published by A. L. Burt, this is the First Printing from Saalfield (First, thus), from 1931. Condition is VG+: completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages heavily tanned & somewhat brittle, but completely unmarked save for former owner's address label to ffep. Front hinge is cracked. Slight fading & rubbing to extremities. The unclipped DJ (with art by E. B. Segner) is VG: colorful & bright, with very mild rubbing & fading; nicely protected in clear mylar cover free!
