Clovis Maksoud (December 17, 1926 - May 15, 2016) was an American diplomat and journalist. He worked with presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. *The Arab Image* is an examination of the portrayal and perception of Arabs in the Western world, focusing on stereotypes and misconceptions about Arab culture and identity. The book analyzes how Arabs and the Arab world were depicted and viewed in the West, exploring negative stereotypes, biases, and the lack of nuanced or individualized representations of Arabs. As an influential Lebanese author and diplomat, Maksoud tries to shed light on and counter the prevalent *Arab image* or stereotypical perceptions of Arabs held in Western societies and media at the time. Maksoud was a prominent figure in Arab-American relations and wrote several other works on the Middle East, such as *The Crisis of the Arab Left.* He served as Ambassador of the Arab League to India from 1961 through 1966, to the United Nations from 1979 through 1990 while at the same time served as Ambassador to the United States.
