Original wood block hand carved etching. 2 center pages of Harper's Weekly Sept 4, 1869 depicts a bustling scene of New York City's waterfront along the Hudson River, viewed from the perspective of West Street. A. R. Waud, a renowned artist and illustrator known for his detailed and atmospheric works, captures the vibrancy and industrial energy of the city's docks during the mid-19th century, a period when New York was solidifying its status as a major global port. Condition is VERY GOOD. Minor flaws: light toning, small tears, but image and paper largely intact Size is 16" x 21.75". Mounted on stiff foam board and protected with mylar.
