Binding firm with slight split to the front hinge. Internally clean with minor spotting to the fore edge. Illustrated with numerous black and white in text illustrations and 8 plates alongside 4 colour plates by Kurt Wiese. Prize plate to the front endpaper. Written by the children's author and former Methodist missionary Elizabeth Foreman Lewis, winner of the 1933 Newbery Award and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award in 1960.
