Illustrated throughout in black and white wood engravings by Edmund Dulac, the author's partner. After meeting in 1924 in England Helen Beauclerk and Edmund Dulac became partners living together another 29 years until his death, during which time he illustrated two of her novels. Signed by the Author it bears a charming gift inscription "To Aunt Dora, with fond love, from her god-child, the author, Babs".
