Clean boards, light rubbing to extremities; jacket is discoloured to spine and marked, with some small areas of loss and creasing/ curling. Some offsetting to endpapers and two ownership inscriptions in ink to ffep ('Nancy Esterton, University of Nottingham'), pencil annotations to the first 40 pages, but otherwise nice and clean internally. Frontis shows medieval illustration of Lady of the Castle visiting Gawain; notes and glossary to rear. This is the 5th printing, having been first published in 1925.
