Stories include: Minon-Minette, Felicia or the Pot of Pinks, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Rosanie or the Inconstant Prince, The Man who never Laughed, John and the Ghosts. They primarily are retold from French fairy tales, one is from Lang's Red Fairy Book, one from an Eastern story used in Morris' The Earthly Paradise, and one from the author's own short story. Kay Nielsen was a popular Danish illustrator in the Art Nouveau style who is known for his collaborations with Disney on Fantasia, The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty.
