In 6 volumes complete. Original dark green Arts & Crafts cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine. Bindings have some surface marks and bumping to spine ends, with some small areas of staining to two of the volumes. Bindings all tight. Minor foxing to fore-edge on a few of the volumes, and occasionally some foxing to endleaves, with the very occasional spot within. A clean set with no ownership names. Colour frontis and a few colour plates per volume, illustrated otherwise with lots of b/w illustrations. Originally published in 1859 by Robert Thompson of the Horticultural Society's Gardens at Chiswick, the Gardener's Assistant was revised and enlarged twice before being edited by a young but well-known gardener, William Watson. This is a reprint of the latter edition. Preface by Frederick Keeble and many other specialist contributions. This is a heavy set and may require additional postage if being shipped outside of Europe.
