1st UK edition. [8], 252 pp. Red hardback in illustrated jacket. A small dent to spine and a few light marks to boards; jacket a bit edgeworn with a small tear and sticker residue near base of spine. Clipped jacket with 4/- overprint. Minor offsetting to endpapers, and clean internally. No ownership names. Kurt Vonnegut's first published novel, which was positively received, with one NYT critic comparing it to Huxley's Brave New World, but which did not sell well and was overlooked in importance as the genre of science fiction was held in disdain by other writers of the time. Vonnegut would only achieve real commercial and critical success by his sixth novel, 'Slaughter-house Five' in 1969.
