Foxing to p. 121 and some odd light foxing occasionally. Generally clean inside. J. O. P. Bland, who specialised in the study of China. This volume contains his short stories on China, and they are dedicated to his father, who requested he write not on Chinese politics but 'something lighter' like short stories. Most of these stories appeared originally in Blackwood's Magazine; 'The Black Cart' was originally published in China.
