Bookplate to vol. 1 endpapers. Light mark to top of vol. 1, some minor foxing and offsetting to title and frontis illustrations; apart from a mark here or there to edges of leaves, a lovely clean copy. Elizabeth Berkeley, formerly Craven, was an author and playwright who travelled extensively in Europe, most known for writing 'A Journey through the Crimea to Constantinople' (1789) at the suggestion of her friend Horace Walpole. Settling back in England, she lived at Brandenburg House in Hammersmith and Benham Park in Berkshire.
