A Leaf from a Latin Version of the Bible, printed in Venice in 1497 by Hieronymus de Paganini. While early editions of the Vulgate followed one another in rapid succession, all are now scarce and worthy of attention if only for their place in the history of typography. The need for thin paper in printing as large a book as the Bible was evidently felt as keenly then as in our own day, and the very credible success obtained by Paganini in this direction may be said to foreshadow modern India paper editions.
