SIGNED, FIRST and only edition, published Feb.1977 --Redneck Power: The Wit and Wisdom of Billy Carter--'America's Newest Folk Hero'. Fully illustrated. Billy Carter was a farmer and businessman from Plains, Georgia who rose to national prominence when his older brother, Jimmy, was elected president in 1976. Billy delighted in being a bit of a bumpkin and a Southern redneck beer drinker-- he was widely quoted as saying, "Yes, sir. I'm a real Southern boy. I got a red neck, white socks, and [Pabst] Blue Ribbon Beer." In 1972, Carter opened a service-station in Plains, Georgia which became a tourist destination during his older brother's 1976 presidential campaign. At its peak, the service station/hub/hangout sold 2,000 cases of beer each month, along with more than 40,000 gallons of gas. With help from the University of Georgia, Billy Carter's service-station became the Billy Carter Service Station Museum in 2009-- filled with Billy's personal memorabilia and all things related to Billy Beer. Owner's name is masked on the verso of front cover, and there's a 1" closed tear at the top-- but these don't detract
