African American Woman Jail Mail c2010

An instructive lot of 60+ letters, cards & documents for "TaTa" a 30 year old African American female in jail for robbery. Her name & others have been obscured in our images to respect the privacy of the family. TaTa's dad is in prison, Blessing's father is in jail, her longtime boyfriend Terry is in jail. One thread that is woven very broadly throughout is that TaTa is very much loved. The other broad theme is that she must take it day by day, and control her anger. D'Shawnna her young son pleads with her ".do not start stuff." And of course there are subplots- TaTa's mom in her 60s balancing care for baby Blessing, unemployment, and keeping her car running. Also drama between TaTa and the sister who's caring for her young son. TaTa's dad in prison, her boyfriend Terry's in jail , and Blessing's father all in jail and each pulling in differing directions. The postscript: TaTa was released from prison, but was later convicted for lewd & lascivious behavior with a 14 year old and served another year in prison.
