The inscription on the first page reads, "'Picture Book' for William Henry McReel made by Great Grandmother Mellin. 82 years old. Exeter, N.H. Jan. 1927". The scrapbook is made in a re purposed 1897 volume from the Massachusetts Highway Commission (The Commission was established in 1893) There are about 80 pages. Great-Grandmother Mellin filled it with items that shefelt would interest her young great grandson- stories clipped from newspapers and magazines, many featuring animals and small children. The book is neatly assembled and includes a number of humorous items dating nearly 100 years ago.
