1939-50s. --BALTIMORE POLICEMAN'S CAREER SCRAPBOOK, NEWS CLIPPINGS, & PHOTOS-- from Sgt. Ernest P. Betz, of the Baltimore County Police Dept. Policeman's scrapbook & work ephemera-- news clippings & police departmental papers show the crime, everyday violence, fear & thievery, from 1940s Baltimore-- Letters of gratitude by crime victims, official letters of commendations show Sgt. Betz's effectiveness as a protector of the citizens in Baltimore. Several clippings about Betz's competitive nature, his marksmanship, long-distance running and amateur boxing. Prior to his acceptance into the Baltimore Police Dept., Sgt. Betz worked as a journeyman truck and auto mechanic. One document in the album shows Officer Betz' filed for official furlough from the dept. during WW2-- his reason for his request isn't stated and the request was denied. In July 1945, Betz formally resigned from the Police Dept. to return to his former trade. Interestingly, his resignation was short-lived-- clippings and his 1970 Retired Policeman's Assoc. membership card show Ernest Betz being reinstated as a cop in his old department (where he served for many years until retirement). 1940s Baltimore Policeman's Scrapbook & Ephemera - Scrapbook - Photographs, Newspaper clippings, Letters, Police incident reports, other paperwork 2 pair of "Police Brace" suspenders Embossed wallet 1939 edition of Maryland State Police Digest of Criminal Laws Police whistle.
