In 1948 John Steinbeck's great friend, Marine biologist Ed Ricketts went on a fishing trip gathering specimens for study. Steinbeck published Sea of Cortez about the expedition. In 1948 Ricketts was killed in an accident and Steinbeck was moved to write a profile of his friend together with the narrative, non-technical portion of The Sea of Cortez. Pp.lxvii/282, 2 black & white portrait photos, maps to endpapers. Blue cloth, title to spine dulled and minor sunning to top and tail.
