96 pp, numerous color and b/w illustrations, white boards with color sketch of a mountain village gathered in the town square for a winter celebration. Title page has authors names in script, giving the impression of being their signatures. Spine has 1" tear down the back hinge, corners bumped and chipped, some edge wear esp. to top of spine. Jacket has a 1/2" tear at top of spine leaving a small flap across the spine, some edge wear and several small tears and chips along edges, a little darkening, price-clipped, sticker remains at top of front cover. Overall a quite attractive copy in a nice jacket. A beautifully illustrated showcase for 24 of the most beloved folk songs from around the world past and present. Selections range from "Sumer Is Icumen In" to "Auld Lang Syne." The authors say about the historical notes at the end of the book: "A few little items of interest about the songs in this book, that you may see for yourself what curious personal histories these melodies have had and how old many of them are and how they are apt to go places without anybody knowing how they ever got there."; Folio - over 12" - 15" tall
