From the early 20's Hirohito had been the unofficial emperor and finally on November, 10,1928 he was crowned emperor of Japan.Upwards of a million people filled the streets to winess the parades and celebrations. The traveling festivities took over two weeks and treked from Tokyo to Kyoto. Meticulous planning begining a year in advance cost over 15 million dollars. Over four milllion was spent on infastructure. The photographs in this journal depict the royal guards and military in modern western dress. THE PAPER IS TONED AND DARKENED WITH AGE. Many advertisements and numerous photographs. An intersting look back at Japan just before WW II.
