He studied at Oxford University and has written a number of radio dramas for the BBC.[1] He won the Betty Trask Award for his first novel, London and the South-East, along with the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize. Since then he has written two other novels: Innocent (2009) and Spring (2011).Szalay's novel, a complex portrayal of twenty-first-century masculinity, has received glowing reviews. The Globe and Mail says that it's "one of the most shattering fictional examinations of mortality in recent memory." Maclean's says: "Szalay locates the souls of his characters and renders them both palpable and fascinating."
