green, blind-stamped, gilt dec cloth, pp., vii, 121 frontispiece (portrait) , wear at corners and spine ends, hinges cracked but holding, covers show some soil, a scarce item . John Keough graduated from St. Francis Xavier in 1906. In 1911 he published "Rhymes of a Rover" a book of poetry. One poem, "Echoes of St. F.X." takes up fifty three pages of the 223 page book. It is written in heroic couplets, in the style of Alexander Pope, and is a satire which castigates Dr. Alexander M. Thompson (1898-1906) for his promotion of sports over academics. Others connected with the university also came under his guns. The book was published by J & A McMillan, St. John N.B. and caused a great stir at the time. This is also a rare title.
