Octavo, dark blue cloth titled in gilt on the front cover & spine. The binding is bumped & rubbed with a small stain to the front cover & light staining to the rear cover. The head & tail of the spine are chipped & slightly frayed & the titling on the spine is almost completely faded. ix & 93 pages. There are tape stains on the front endpaper & a short tear to its front edge, else the contents are very good. First edition.Inscribed to Hettie Gray Baker on the front pastedown with the stamp of "Ethel L. Dickinson / Hartford, Connecticut". Baker's bookplate is taped to the front endpaper. The bookplate depicts the head of a Siamese cat in black and white above the words "Mike / Owner of / Hettie Gray Baker / Who Owns This Book.Hettie Gray Baker (1881-1957), was a pioneer woman in the film industry. As a film editor and writer she contributed to numerous films, including writing scenario and story scripts for several silent films based on Jack London classics. Among these were "Burning Daylight: The Adventures of 'Burning Daylight' in Alaska" (1914), "The Valley of the Moon" (1914), and "The Chechako" (1914). She edited legendary Western film director John Ford's early film "The Iron Horse" (1924). She later became known for her knowledge of Siamese cats and wrote several cat books, including "Cat Tales" published by Farrar Strauss and Young. First Edition.
