Octavo, olive green cloth titled in gilt on the spine with a vignette of a phoenix stamped in gilt on the front cover. The top edge is gilt. The spine & extremities are faded with uneven fading to the rear cover & there is a tiny hole in the spine. There is a small, light stain with some tiny gray marks to the front cover. 97 pages plus colophon. The endpapers are darkened & the bottom margins of the pages are slightly rippled. Good. First English edition, limited to 2,000 copies, after a Paris Black Sun Press edition under the title "The Escaped Cock".Inscribed in ink on the front endpaper by the concert pianist Etienne Amyot, "A With my love from her friend Etienne Amyot / Christmas in Berlin 1931". Amyot was one of the creators of the BBC's Third Programme. First Edition.
