The covers are slightly warped with light dampstaining to the top corner of the rear cover. 337 pages plus colophon with a corrections slip bound in. Numerous black-and-white illustrations. The fore-edge is lightly foxed & there is a small area of pink dampstaining to its top end, with very light dampstaining to the top corners of a number of pages. There is light foxing to the preliminaries & the last 2 leaves. Good. First edition. Published in behalf of the Society for Japanese Studies to accompany exhibitions shown at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Modern Art, New York City. First Edition.
