Large octavo, light gray paper covered boards backed with cream cloth with cloth tips on the corners & with a printed label on the spine. The pages are untrimmed. The edges of the boards are slightly darkened & the cloth is lightly soiled. There is a tiny pinprick to the front cover. xxx, [1] leaf & 338 pages, unopened. Profusely illustrated with sepia-toned plates with tissue guards, including a frontispiece, and with black-and-white plates and black-and-white full-page & textual illustrations, including maps & facsimiles. There is some soiling to the half-title page. Very good. Large Paper Edition, printed on fine paper and limited to 250 copies. This is copy number 62.In the preface to his previous volume in this series, "The Dutch and Quaker Colonies in America", Fiske writes: "It is my purpose, in my next book, to deal with the rise and fall of New France [Quebec], and the development of the English colonies as influenced by the prolonged struggle with that troublesome and dangerous neighbour." The fifth chapter of the book deals with the Salem witchcraft trials.
