Large octavo, 10-5/8 inches high by 7-3/8 inches wide. Softcover, bound in printed light blue wraps titled with a vignette in blue on the front cover and pictorial advertisements on the rear cover. The edges of the covers are chipped and the spine is heavily chipped and torn with small pieces out from the head and tail of the spine. 80 pages, with textual illustrations and 4 full-page engraved plates illustrating etchings by Paul Potter, A. Van Ostade, L. Backhuysen and A. Van de Velde. The volume is additionally illustrated with pictorial ads printed inside the covers. One of the engravings is loose and there is a tiny chip to the front edge of another. The book is shaken. Good. This is the September, 1895 issue (number 21) of the monthly publication "The Portfolio: Monographs on Artistic Subjects."
