The bookplate humorously combines a traditional coat of arms pattern with an agricultural motif of sheaves of wheat. Eugene Field's name is printed below the image. This is possibly one of the forgeries created by his son, Eugene Field II.Eugene Field, Sr. [1850-1895] was an American author best known for his children's poetry and humorous essays. He was known as the "poet of childhood".
