LIMITED EDITION ON VELIN DE RIVES - Quarto, 11-1/4 inches high by 8-1/4 inches wide. Two volumes uniformly bound in full maroon morocco with elaborate illustrations and decorations embossed in blind and black on the covers with a central illustrated panel and vignettes at each of the 4 corners framed in gilt. Gilt and blind rules frame the margins of the covers. Gilt-titled leather labels and gilt decorations within raised bands adorn the spines. The top edges of each volume are gilt. The volumes are additionally housed in a red marbled slipcases with leather-lined openings. The slipcases are slightly rubbed. The head and tail of the spines of both volumes are slightly rubbed. 183 & [8] pages; and 183 & [12] pages respectively. The set is sumptuously illustrated with colored pochoirs after Asaldi. The brightly colored illustrations include 2 title vignettes, a double-page plate, 10 "culs-de-lampe" textual illustrations, and 28 full-page "hors-texte" plates with tissue guards. Near fine.
