Octavo, decorative blue & maroon paper covered boards with printed paper label on spine. The boards are lightly bumped. The head & tail of the spine & the right side of the label are lightly chipped. Half-title, title, [1] leaf, 68 & [1] pages plus colophon, partially unopened. There is some soiling to the front endpaper & the page edges are very slightly darkened. Very good. Limited edition of 785 copies, designed by Bruce Rogers.Moore explains in a prefatory note that in his narrative of Heloise and Abelard, Heloise wrote the story of Peronnik the Fool to teach her son French. He did not include the story in the published book, fearing it would be a distraction from Heloise's own story.
