First edition."The Antique Shop known as 'The Quarters' was started five years ago in the slave Quarters of an old house in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and has now expanded into the family residence known as the 'Big House'.Generation after generation of slaves and later those who were free had lived in The Quarters, called to the main house by bells rung by the simple act of pulling a lever attached to a silver plated base fastened to the walls of the room. The lever turned a crank connected through the brick walls to an outside wire that eventually found its way to the bell in The Quarters.
