"For a wonder, on that spring morning when Rosamond went gaily through the porch to pick flowers, there was not a breath of wind. The very air seemed to sparkle with gold flecks, and to uplift one's feelings to an intensity of happiness. A New Zealand garden, a New Zealand springime. Kowhai trees with their drooping golden blossoms mingled their beauty with English flowers." - the opening sentences. [Reference: Bagnall G815]
