This copy signed by the author in blue in on the title page "Janet Frame". No other signatures. 206 pages. Mauve-grey boards with gilt lettering on spine. Page dimensions: 196 x 125mm. "The Rainbirds" is a novel Frame wrote while she held the Robert Burns Fellowship at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. The first edition was the 1967 UK edition. It was later published by her American publisher George Braziller with her preferred title "Yellow Flowers in the Antipodean Room". "Dark stocky macrocarpa trees, one with a swing suspended from it, were grouped about the entrance.
