2 offprints. Original wrappers. Very good. STRATHDEE, J.; TAKAHASHI, Yasushi (1924-2013). On the Self-Stress of Composite Particles. Offprint from: Nuclear Physics, 8, (1958), pp. 112-123. Amsterdam: North-Holland Publishing. Abstract: "It is proved that the Pais-Epstein formula which shows the close relation between self-stress and self-energy holds true even for bound states. This formula is used to show that the self-stress of the composite particle vanishes in the rest frame, i.e. that the binding energy transforms like a mass. This makes it possible for the composite particle models proposed by many authors in connection with strange particles to join company with the relativistic particles." STRATHDEE, J.; TAKAHASHI, Yasushi (1924-2013). Unrenormalizable Interactions and the Structure of Elementary Particles. Offprint from: Nuclear Physics, vol. 9 (1958/59) no. 3, pp., 558-560. Original light blue printed wrappers. Amsterdam: North-Holland Publishing. Abstract: "A possible relation of the unrenormalizable interactions to the internal structure of elementary particles is approached with the help of a simple model. A non-local, charge-independent, and CP (combined) invariant interaction is examined and a simple connection is found to emerge between the problems of parity violation in weak interactions and the divergence of self-energy. The connection involves a supposed universal fundamental length." / Strathdee was with the Institute for Advanced Studies, Dublin. Author of: Partial wave analysis, International Atomic Energy Agency, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, 1967. Yasushi Takahashi (1924-2013), Japanese theoretical physicist, studied at Nagoya University (1951), took a Fulbright Scholarship, at University of Rochester (1953), Iowa State Univ. (1957), Dublin, Univ. of Alberta (1968). He is known for the Ward Takahashi identity. "His dedication to the research in Quantum Electrodynamics lead to the Ward-Takahashi Identity." :: [Obit.]. Memberships: Fellow of Royal Society of Canada; Fellow of American Physical Society; Member of Royal Irish Academy. "Yasushi Takahashi Obituary :: Edmonton, AB, Edmonton Journal". [Legacy].
