Part I and IV have no wrappers. 2 frontispiece plates are Part I 'Black William selling Nahant to Thomas Dexter for a suit of clothes 1630' and Part II 'Lady Susan Humfrey Parting from her Children'. Part I, II, III published in 1829. Part IV was published in 1830. Bought at auction from the Lynn Historical Society. Size: 8vo 7.75 - 9.75'' tall. Alonzo Lewis : 'The Indian name of the river which now forms part of the western boundary of the town, is Saugus; by which appelIation the town was known for several years. The eastern extremity was called Swampscot, which name it till retains. Nahant; '. an Indian word signifying an Island, is the original name of the peninsula which has become so celebrated.'
