'Here is the real dilemma of the modern novelist. He can produce a chaste and subdued tale like mine of the Goose, and please the critics; or he can mix ''Sin and Sex'' (the publisher's superficial characterization of EVE) which the public will buy.'' 'Lord, don't get me started on the subject of dust jackets and publisher's blurbs!.I had much rather the publisher prefaced my books with Hazlitt's 'Lectures on the English Comic Writers', so the reader would at least learn in what ancient and honorable tradition I really write.'' 'My next book is called 'Bramble Bush'.It is said to be the best yet, and so horribly serious that it's terribly funny.' ''I really have hopes this 'English' novel will pull me through, but of course it will be almost two years before I realize on it.'' Size: 8vo 7.75 - 9.75'' tall.
