1st ed. Inscribed copy with the scarce dustjacket and publishers errata sheet! 8vo, beige cloth, tight and square binding with sharp corners, Very good-near fine; soiling to top edge, a few spots on fore-edge. Internally clean and tight. D/W not price-clipped [$2.00], but spine darkened and chipped at top of spine; also upper right front corner; light wear along folds. Inscribed on FEP by Rhodes with a quotation from one of his tales to Sacramento bookseller Edward H. Crussell. Rhodes wrote the inscription in trust for. It is later completed by Crussell to his son Ernest. On the verso of the FEP, Crussell notes in ink that when he was visiting Rhodes, he thought it would be a neat trick to present the author with a copy of his own book. This he would not listen to and inscribed the book so that I might give it to some other body. He forgot however to sign his nameso I have corrected the oversight by pasting in his signature cut from one of his letters. This copy also has the rare errata sheet bound between the FEP and half-title page.
