Eloise Coats, Whittier, CA, founded the first Humphrey Bogart fan club in 1937. This lot includes six issues of the fanzine, each filled with articles by both fans and the stars themselves. Humphrey Bogart, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Stewart, Leo Gorcey and others. [see photos]. Grateful for their support, Bogart corresponded regularly with Coats and her colleagues and these six issues include numerous personal messages, and occasional articles including a fascinating piece by Bogart on why movie villains never get the girls.
