Salgado's magnum opus is breath-taking in its scope, and the 'sumo' size of the volumes presents each of the images in sharp museum quality. Published in five 'Art Editions' of 100 copies each and a signed Collector's Edition of 2,500 copies. Each of the Art Editions was accompanied by a 13"x16" gelatin silver print of one of the photos. This particular copy is lacking the 'Arctic National Wildlife Preserve" print that accompanied numbers 401-500. Genesis is still in print, priced at $10,000 for the remaining Art Editions and $4,500 for the "Collectors Edition" bound in leather and cloth. (No. 5013,000)

While lacking the gelatin silver print, and with some visible light wear, this is your chance to get the full leather edition limited to 500 copies for 1/3 less than the clothbound edition of 2500.

Salgado is one of the world's most eminent photographers. He began his career as a professional in Paris in 1973 and subsequently worked with the photo agencies Sygma, Gamma, and Magnum Photos. Salgado's photographic projects have been featured in many exhibitions, numerous collected books and anthologies, and displayed in nearly every major photographic museum.
/////
From Taschen: "Sebastio Salgado's haunting black-and-white photographs from the GENESIS project record landscapes and people unchanged in the devastating onslaught of modern society and development. Taken over the course of an epic eight-year expedition, the images are divided into five broad geographic chapters: Planet South, Sanctuaries, Africa, Northern Spaces, Amazonia, and Pantanal."
