Book is in excellent condition, as new in every respect, lavishly illustrated with decorated endpapers, bookmark ribbon. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Slipcase shows the slightest signs of shelf wear only, no tears, edge wear or corner wear. Not sure where the "scented" comes from. I put my nose in the fold in numerous places and detected nothing. With excerpts from the writings of Byron, Shelley, Keats, Browning, Mark Twain, Henry James, etc. on their travels and joys of the Mediterranean, Italy, Greece, Paris, venice, Switzerlandm, the Alps, Vienna, Germany, etc. in Victorian times when the children of wealthy famlies were sent to Europe to complete their education.
