Small Quarto Size [approx 17x24cm]. A Near Fine copy -like new copy. Card wraps. Illustrated with Colour and Black & White Photographs. Australian Military History Series - 1. Robust, professional packaging and tracking provided for all parcels. 210 pages. In 1994, an orgy of killing swept across Rwanda and genocide erupted on a scale unseen since World War 2. To alleviate the suffering UN Peace Keepers were sent in under a UN mandate. These Australians would be exposed to a lack of humanity they were not prepared for and found hard to understand. On 22 April 1995, at a displaced persons camp in Kibeho, in full view of Australian soldiers, over 4,000 unarmed men, women and children dies in a hail of bullets, grenades and machete blades at the hands of the Rwandan Patriotic Army. Constrained by the Rules of Engagement, the Australians could only watch helplessly and try to assist the wounded.
