Jan Lynch of Knoxville, TN, who died of AIDS in 1996 was a man of many roles. He was an ordained priest in the Ruthenian Rite of the Catholic Church, a Byzantine rite that is rooted in the Carpathian region of Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine. He collected holy relics, he campaigned for gay rights and AIDS awareness. And he was a photographer, of nudes, drag queens, gay rights events, in-your-face portraits. From a 2016 article by Ed White in the Knoxville Mercury: "His ability to jolt people out of complacency and connect with them was part of what made him as a photographer. He collected personalities, clothed and unclothed, with his camera, as obsessively as he once collected holy relics. And with the same reverence." We are offering one of Lynch's photos, B&W, 8x10, mat finish mounted on mat board with the Jan Lunch stamp on the back, and in pencil, "Jan Lynch" and gathering. I found the photo at the end of the Mercury article, but no information about it. If you recognize it, please let us know! Other than this and another article, there's no information or photos for sale on line. Condition is NF.; B&W Photograph; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 1 pages; Signed by Illustrator
